Having read the Romney and Marsh trilogy, and being impatient for more, I decided to try the Acer Sansom stories. A wise decision if I do say so myself. Dirty Business the first of the two Acer books Mr. Tidy has written so far. I was hooked from the get go. It is mind blowing the way the writer can take a complicated plot and bring it altogether, in such a satisfying way. At times I found myself holding my breath, and literally feeling my heart rate increase. It takes a good story to get me that excited. It also makes me grateful I'm in good health my heart rate is usually low. The background is mostly in Istanbul, and it made me wish I could go there. OK it's obvious I'm a fan, a grateful one. I am halfway through the second in the series, thanks to Mr. Tidy for hours of good reading, my favorite tv shows are now secondary.

This book was unlike anything I have ever read which made it a very interesting read. I couldn't guess what was coming, who were the bad guys, how anything might be resolved. The characters were captivating - again, very unique. Plenty of surprises, especially one at the end. Immediately downloaded the next book. Keep 'em coming Mr. Tidy!
A man lives on a deserted Pacific island after witnessing the murder of his family, the passengers and the crew of the sailing ship he had been on. He returns to civilization bent on revenge. Tidy takes this as his beginning and weaves an adventure with multiple complexities, not all of which are answered in this book. I am looking forward to the next in the series and more of Acer Sansom--the man of many deaths.
Why do I love Tidy's novels? 1 The use of the language is impeccable. 2. He creates characters one cares for. 3.I love his references such as... "Spreading his hands like Fagin." His allusions to literature and culture of all sorts gratifie my spending time with his people. I'm n short, I enjoy his work as much as Christie and Sayers.
I downloaded this book with little knowledge of the author and his works. I came away wishing I could visit Istanbul and the rest of Turkey, sounds like a fascinating place, found myself searching European and Middle Eastern maps. I enjoyed the British writing style and the Whole European feel. I'm curious as to how this turns into a series----guess I'll have to buy the next book. If you are a lover of adventure fiction and want to try something new, this could be it.
This writer has been a fan of British author Oliver Tidy for many years. This book continues his high quality writing, good character development, nonstop action and endless twists and turns. Acer Samson has been rescued from a South Seas island after being stranded for a year. He is recruited to track down his family's murderers. He finds the organization in Turkey and what follows is a chaotic search for justice for him. The book races through all these situations and you almost cannot put it down. Review for book #2 follows!!! Highly recommended.
I can't believe what this poor guy (main Character) has gone thru.

He has "everyman's" desire to seek justice...his way.

I found myself yelling, screaming, saying things like "don't trust that guy", "don't go down there" and I even put the book down so I could savor the moments and slow down my reading speed to more thoroughly enjoy.

Well written, great character development, major bad guys and more than one good guy and one good woman willing to do what ever it takes to help, and that combination makes this book an excellent read.

I guess by telling you I just purchased the sequel, you can figure out how well I liked the book.

However my review now is no longer verbiage about LOOK INSIDE it is simply; I want Oliver Tidy to continue telling stories I love reading novels written by Tidy. I have read everything that he has uploaded on so far. I came back here to "Dirty Business" because I wanted to nudge you, possibly a new reader on looking for a great fiction author and self publisher.

Do better then this reader and please write a review of all of Tidy' s books that you have purchased as you finish them.
